Elegant Louis XVI etui in gold
Description
A wonderful obvile d’art and elegant etui in two-tone gold, finely embossed with foliated motifs, it represents a fine example of eighteenth-century craftsmanship. Of French origin and dated 1770, accompanied by its original green leather case that preserves its integrity and adds further historical value. Oval in section and cylindrical in shape. The etui were once used by wealthy members of society to carry small toiletries, sealing wax, personal effects and more. They were also used by lovers as a secret place to keep their clandestine correspondence.
